The tyrosine kinase inhibitor sunitinib is used as first-line therapy in patients with metastasized renal cell carcinoma (mRCC), given in fixed-dose regimens despite its high variability in pharmacokinetics (PKs). Interindividual variability of drug exposure may be responsible for differences in response.
